Boarding Requirements and Vaccinations
It is the owner’s responsibility to provide National K-9 with current vaccination records from a licensed veterinarian. We require the following vaccinations: DHLP, Parvo, and Rabies. We recommend that your dog also receive the Corona and Bordetella vaccinations. The Bordetella vaccination must be given at least 10 days prior to boarding. Dogs that are overdue on vaccinations will not be accepted for boarding. Dogs with fleas or flea dirt will be treated at the owner’s expense.

Boarding dogs should be in good health. We are not able to board dogs that require any form of post-operative care, with open wounds/stitches, require injections, have restrictions on physical activity, have certain medical/physical conditions, or require the care of a veterinarian. National K-9 does not board puppies under the age of 16 weeks and female dogs that are pregnant or in heat. Please contact the business office if you have questions regarding your dog’s condition or require clarification regarding this policy.

We recommend that you make your dog’s boarding reservations as far in advance as possible. Boarding spaces may be limited and a deposit may be required. We accept the following forms of payment: check, cash, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. Contact our business office to schedule boarding at 614-864-8808.

Feeding and Medication
National K-9 does not provide food and we require that you keep your dog on the same food he/she eats at home. Please be certain your pet is familiar with the food that you provide. Sudden changes in food can sometimes upset a dog's stomach. Make sure that you bring enough food for the entire time your dog is scheduled for boarding. You may also want to supply enough food for one extra day in the event that you cannot make it back for your scheduled pick-up. We suggest that you pre-measure the amount to be given for each feeding and place in separate plastic bags. If your dog does not have enough food for its stay, National K-9 will purchase additional food (if possible). The owner is responsible for the price of additional food and transportation fees. If your dog has any medications or supplements to be given, please place them in separate plastic bags and include instructions for dispensing.

Bathing Services
National K-9 provides bathing services for boarding dogs. We also offer same day drop-off and pick-up bathing services for dogs. Our services include a bath, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and brushing/combing. Boarding dogs will receive an additional discount towards their bathing price, provided that owners schedule the dog’s bath in advance and board for a minimum of one night. Contact our office during business hours to obtain more information regarding rates and scheduling. National K-9 reserves the right to refuse to bathe or trim the nails of any dog that may pose a risk to our staff. National K-9 may not be able to bathe a dog that is severely matted or requires the services of a professional groomer.

Veterinary Care
If during boarding we feel that your dog requires veterinary attention, we will attempt to contact you at the telephone number(s) provided on your contract. If we are unable to contact you, National K-9 will then try the emergency contact provided on your boarding contract. Please make sure that your emergency contact is aware that your dog is boarding with National K-9 and available for contact during your dog's boarding stay. In the event we are unable to contact you or your emergency contact, National K-9 will call in or transport your dog to an available veterinarian to secure the necessary care. The owner is responsible for all veterinary charges incurred including transportation fees.
